This watermelon cucumber basil lemonade recipe is a perfectly refreshing summer drink recipe. Made with simple ingredients and no added sugar! Add vodka, tequila or gin to make it a watermelon cucumber co*cktail!
This watermelon cucumber lemonade has been my saving grace this summer.
Being pregnant makes me a tiny bit drink-envious when everyone's got their cool, refreshing co*cktails by the pool and I'm sipping on some boring soda water...
Well not anymore because I found my new favorite summer drink...watermelon cucumber basil lemonade.
Super refreshing, easy to make and there's no added sugar!!!
The watermelon has it's own natural sugars so there's no need to add any extra sugar.
Make a big batch to take to your next summer cookout or keep it small for your own personal drinking pleasure ;).
You can even add your favorite liquor (vodka, tequila, rum) and make it into a refreshing summer co*cktail!
I made this for a summer BBQ last year and it was a big hit...I stored it in a drink dispenser (like this one) and offered the liquor on the side for anyone that wanted to add to it.
Great for the kiddos, preggos like myself and those adults who need a little something extra ;).
Watermelon, cucumber, lemonade...I mean it's the epitome of summer flavors in delicious drink form.
What you need to make watermelon cucumber basil lemonade:
- fresh watermelon
- cucumber
- fresh basil
- lemons
- fresh ginger (optional)
- soda water (optional)
I love the combination of watermelon and basil, but you can try this drink recipe with mint also!
The ginger is totally optional but I like the pop of flavor it gives.
Feel free to experiment with other fruits too: strawberry, pineapple or mango would be great additions.
You can even try it with lime instead of lemon for a limeade version.
The watermelon is loaded with it's own natural sugars, so no need to add any sweeteners. In fact, I love the lemon and cucumber because it cuts down on that sugary taste.
Equipment needed for this watermelon cucumber drink recipe:
- blender or food processor
- fine mesh strainer or cheese cloth
I highly recommend straining this or else you'll end up with lots of pulp.
It easily strains through a fine mesh strainer (pictured below), or you can use a cheese cloth if you have one on hand.
How to make watermelon lemonade:
- Place cubed watermelon, cucumber, basil, and lemon juice in blender or food processor.
- Blend until smooth.
- Pour into a fine mesh strainer placed over a large bowl. Use a wooden spoon to guide the liquid into the bowl. Discard the pulp.
- Pour over ice and top with soda water if desired.
Try adding some of your favorite vodka, tequila or rum for a delicious summer co*cktail (see below!).
If there was one drink that tasted like summer, it would definitely be this.
SO refreshing, easy and delicious.
The perfect drink recipe for a cookout, party or even a low key date night in!
Make this watermelon cucumber basil lemonade into a co*cktail!

Adding tequila and some triple sec will make a tasty watermelon cucumber margarita!
Or try adding vodka and a dash of elderflower liqueur (such as St. Germain) for a watermelon cucumber martini.
Rum would also work...really any liquor you prefer.
This fresh watermelon cucumber drink will last up to 4 days in the refrigerator.
If you have leftover watermelon but aren't quite ready to make a drink out of it, simply place the cut up watermelon in a large zip lock bag and store in the freezer for up to 1 year!
You can even use the frozen watermelon for a frozen version of this drink recipe.
As mentioned earlier, try adding some strawberry or mango for even more flavor.
